Morningside Park
This 13 foot statue was made for climbing around on and that's just what the girls did.
My son and I have decided to try and visit all the parks in Knoxville this summer. The statue of Alex Haley resides at Morningside Park in East Knoxville.
Alex Haley grew up in West Tennessee, but he lived the last 14 years of his life in Norris. I learned he was living there when it made big news that Oprah Winphrey was in town to visit Alex Haley. The media followed her everywhere.

Neat, Connie. I've never even heard of that park. Did Alex Haley grow up in Knoxville --or was born in Knoxville???
Hope you are having a great day. We have very high winds today--and rain is on the way.
Hugs,
Betsy
