Hornets Nest

I hadn't been to the deer lease property since hunting season began, but it has been such a pretty weekend, and I wanted to spend some time outdoors.

Last summer I loved walking around the beaver pond.

Now that all the leaves are off the trees, a walk around the pond reveals something I hadn't noticed before.

I'm sure noticing it now. This nest is huge. During the summer I was within three feet of this thing. We all were!

I never saw a single hornet all summer.

I still plan on spending time here as often as I can. The lady of the pond is just too entertaining to watch.

That is one big Hornet's nest, Connie... Don't think I would want to get near that one...

Hope you and your family had a great Christmas.

Happy New Year.
Hugs,
Betsy

Gracious, that IS a big nest! I'll bet they were bald-faced hornets---they aren't as aggressive as some of the other ones. I accidentally bumped into a bald-faced hornet's nest with my head once when I was mowing and they didn't sting me even though they were swarming around my head. Naturally, I had to do a post on it. :-)

Happy New Year, Connie.

Just be careful. You know how everybody in this family is allergic to EVERYTHING!

Love you.
